AMD APP SDK

The AMD APP SDK v2.6 with OpenCL™ 1.1 support uses the OpenCL™ ICD (Installable Client Driver) as part of the software stack. Code written with beta releases of the ATI Stream SDK v2.0 requires changes to comply with the OpenCL™ ICD requirements.

Please read the following for important information on steps that must be taken to ensure proper installation and use of version 2.6 of the SDK.

The new OpenCL™ ICD model changes the locale for vendor-specific libraries under Linux® from /usr/lib/OpenCL/vendors to /etc/OpenCL/vendors. If you are upgrading from ATI Stream SDK v2.0, note this important change. Also, instead of the actual vendor-specific libraries, .icd files are now used to specify the name of the vendor-specific library. For more information, see section 3.2 of the AMD APP SDK Installation Notes.

For OpenCL™ support, it is important to download and install the indicated tested driver listed below for your graphics card before proceeding. See also System Requirements and Driver Compatibilty for additional information.

OpenCL™ 1.2 and Static C++ kernel language preview

As part of the SDK 2.6 release we are making available a preview of a subset of the OpenCL 1.2 functionality, and Static C++ kernel language, a static subset of C++ 98 that is used for writing kernels on the CPU rather than the tradidional OpenCL™ C.

Install these drivers after you install the AMD APP SDK v2.6.

Additionally, it is necessary to download the Additional Files from the below table and replace the included files in the APP SDK install directory.
